What To Expect During Recovery From a Thigh Lift

Thigh lift (6)

thigh lift, or thighplasty, is a procedure for tightening loose skin on the thighs. The procedure is ideal for those looking to reduce excess skin on the inner or outer thighs and develop a slimmer, more toned figure. Excess skin may develop in this area due to weight loss, pregnancy, and age.

No matter the reason, if you are interested in or are planning to receive a thigh lift, it’s important to know what to expect following your procedure. This can help ensure a smooth and healthy recovery and excellent results.

What To Expect During Thigh Lift Recovery

When you have your thigh lift procedure, you will likely be under general anesthesia. This means you will need someone to drive you home following your procedure. Before you leave, your surgeon will provide aftercare instructions, including prescriptions for any necessary medications, compression garments, and bandages if needed.

Once home, it’s important to prioritize sleep and rest. You may be experiencing some swelling, inflammation, and soreness. While these are all normal side effects, sleep can help reduce them as well as boost your energy and immune system.

While it may not seem like it, getting up and walking around your house can help your recovery as it improves blood circulation.

In the first few days, you’ll continue to rest and take some walks around your home, replacing your bandages as needed. Your movement should be limited to small walks, sitting, and standing for the next two weeks. You also should not participate in any strenuous activities or exercise.

You may slowly incorporate more movement into your routine between four and six weeks following your procedure. Be sure to speak to your doctor about what exercises are appropriate for you.
