Thigh lift surgery, also known as Thighplasty, is a surgical procedure designed to raise, tighten, and reshape the inner and/or outer thighs by removing loose skin and excess fatty deposits in these areas. With weight loss, the effects of aging, and even heredity, both men and women can lose skin tone in the thigh area and the skin can become loose and flabby. For many individuals, this condition does not respond to diet and exercise. In some cases Dr. Jones may suggest that liposuction be used alone when skin tone is good and excessive fat is the primary problem, or in conjunction with a thigh lift to remove excess fat in the thighs.
The procedure is done under general anesthesia and varies in the length of time depending on the extent of the tissue removed. Some of these risks of thigh lift surgery include infection and blood clots. These can be treated easily and are rare. The surgery can improve the appearance of the thighs, however the procedure has been known to leave scarring. Some scarring can be severe and may require a second operation.
Following thigh lift surgery, detailed instructions are given to the patient as to postoperative care and activity. It is important for a patient to follow these instructions in order to minimize any complications and to help achieve the best results. Dr. Jones will also advise the patient as to when they can return to their normal activities. Most patients are able to return to work within one to two weeks, and more strenuous activities in about three to six weeks following surgery.
Nevertheless, as with any surgery, there are complications that can occur and some that are more specific to this operation. Bleeding can occur after this procedure but this is unusual. Infection can occur and this may be associated with a small area of skin separation. This problem responds very favorably to a period of dressing changes and oral antibiotics with an end result very similar to the other areas of wound healing. You can reduce your risks of complications by closely following our instructions before and after the surgery.
BOTOX® blocks the nerve impulses to the facial muscles responsible for the contraction, thus relaxing the muscles and smoothing facial lines.
