How old is 'too old' for cosmetic surgery?

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Sixty is the new thirty in the world of cosmetic surgery; and it may give you a new lift in life.

Dr. Trenton Jones, owner of Cascade Cosmetic Surgery and Med Spa discussed the advantages and risks of enhanced surgical procedures for seniors. According to Jones, the baby boomers are aging and the demographic is taking their attitude with them. The number of people in that age group that are having plastic surgery is increasing. More than 26 percent of cosmetic surgeries are performed on seniors over the age of fifty-five.

An interview with the surgeon prior to surgery is a key consideration. "I would need to ascertain their expectations and what their goals are for the operation," said Jones.

Jones said that there is a certain amount of risk. Anyone interested in having surgical enhancements should consult with a surgeon certified with the American Board of Plastic Surgery. But, a healthy eighty-year-old could be less of a risk than an unhealthy person in their thirties.
